Chairman's Report

AGM 2012 –
Chairman’s Report

The Chairman welcomed those present to the 2012 AGM and gave apologies
for a number of people.
He thanked the members that regularly provide the small extra services
that add to the club’s monthly meetings, such as Cakes, The Library, Tools and
The Website.
Hampshire membership of the BWA now stands at 40, of whom approx 26
have this year attended monthly meetings, and the average monthly attendance is
16.
A brief resume of the year’s activities was given.
The Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary and three Committee
members were all re-elected.
The treasurer gave his accounts which show that we are presently in a
healthy financial position.
The Chairman produced a brief history of our accounts which showed
that over the past seven years income has been fairly steady at about £600 per
annum but Hall expenses have almost doubled from £325 to £560. He asked people to be aware that income from
Capitation and Zion Hill were factors outside of our control and Hall costs
could only increase. There may be a requirement in 2-3 years time to consider
other means of income.
No other items were raised.

Hello! and welcome to the Hampshire Woodcarvers Blog (short for WEBLOG). This BLOG is designed to demonstrate the variety and diversity of members interests in woodcarving. You will see as time progresses just how projects are conceived and completed. We are unashamedly dedicated to the imagination, thoughtfulness, enjoyment and pleasure obtained from touching, feeling and working with wood!

Fees: £20 per year for membership of British Woodcarvers Association, £8 of which is repaid to Hampshire Woodcarvers.

Tools: All you need is a portable workmate type bench, a few gouges and a small mallet. These are not essential on your first visit and we can lend tools to new carvers.

Who are we?

The Hampshire Woodcarvers are an enthusiastic group of people who meet once a month. Although carving is the main aim of the day, time is also spent on exchanging ideas, hints and tips, generally being sociable in the traditional friendly way of the woodcarver.
We have members of all abilities, male and female, ranging from beginners to those who exhibit their carvings in national exhibitions.
We can provide tools on loan for those who wish to start carving with us and we have some excellent tutors.
